OverFlo Guard™

Prevents overflow blockages from litter, leaves, and debris to keep ponds and reservoirs flowing freely.

Eliminates Blockages and Keeps Overflows Flowing Freely

The OverFlo Guard™ is an innovative floating debris guard engineered to prevent blockages caused by litter, leaves, and natural debris around overflow structures in ponds and reservoirs. Built from durable, UV-stabilized HDPE, it surrounds existing riser pipes to keep the surface clear—allowing water to flow freely, even during heavy rain events. By eliminating buildup at the overflow, the OverFlo Guard™ reduces maintenance, prevents flooding, and extends the life of your stormwater infrastructure.

The Challenge

Traditional overflow risers collect water directly from the surface, where trash, sticks, and vegetation often accumulate. This buildup can block critical drainage points, causing overflows, flooding, and costly cleanouts.
- Floating debris restricts drainage capacity.
- Blockages require manual removal and frequent maintenance.
- Over time, sediment and vegetation can create long-term flow inefficiencies.

The Solution

The OverFlo Guard™ acts as a floating barrier that surrounds the overflow structure—blocking debris before it reaches the drain. Its open design allows water to enter freely from beneath the surface while keeping litter, leaves, and sticks outside the intake zone. The result is continuous, maintenance-free flow that keeps ponds operating efficiently and prevents backups during high-flow events.

Proven Results

While its primary function is debris prevention, field testing by the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources found an added advantage: the OverFlo Guard™ also draws cooler mid-depth water into the discharge system. By reducing the temperature of outflow water, it helps protect downstream habitats and supports aquatic life—especially in areas where cold-water species thrive.

Proven Performance: Validated by the University of Georgia

A 2019 study conducted at Big Sister Pond in Athens, GA confirmed that the OverFlo Guard™ consistently released water cooler than surface temperatures, improving the quality of downstream flows. This research highlights the product’s dual benefit: eliminating surface debris while improving water quality.

“Water outflow temperatures are cooler than normal surface waters, thus demonstrating the utility of this modification.”
UGA Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources, 2019
