How It All Began

Drawing on over 40 years of expertise in the plastics industry, our founders were driven to address the escalating challenge of waterway litter. In 2007, they founded Storm Water Systems, bringing the groundbreaking Bandalong Litter Trap™ and StormX™ Netting Trash Trap to North America. Our mission from the start has been to safeguard aquatic ecosystems with innovative and effective litter capture technologies.

What people are saying about us

Don't take our word for it, here's what others have to say.

Now that the City of Waycross has had it’s Bandalong litter trap in operation for a little over three and one-half years, I can say that it has been a total success for us…to date we have emptied 349 cubic yards of floating litter, and that is with 148.7 inches of rainfall. We feel that we are intercepting and removing at least 99% of floating litter from our canal system just before it would be entering the Satilla River, one of the most pristine black-water rivers in the State of Georgia.

We in the City of Waycross Engineering Dept. have been extremely satisfied not only with the superior build quality with which the Bandalong is crafted, but also with the first-rate service after the sale and the commitment to quality and to clean water which Storm Water Systems Inc. has demonstrated.

Steve Pope

Project Manager, Engineering Department

City of Waycross

Advancements in technology such as the Bandalong Litter Trap allow for floating litter to be stopped in its tracks at all hours of the day, every day, free of human or energy assistance. With this investment, the District is leading the nation and making a concrete statement and commitment to clean water for decades to come.

Dottie Yunger

Anacostia Riverkeeper

Although our Earth Conservation Corps team has been taking trash out of the litter trap for the last 15 minutes to half-hour, it is still full… They removed all of the trash just a week ago. All of that trash has been collected in this little stream leading to the Anacostia River by the Bandalong Litter Trap in just one week… We are excited to be the first city in the Western Hemisphere to use the Bandalong Litter Trap.

Adrian Fenty

Mayor of Washington, D.C.

As physical best management practice, the Bandalong Litter Trap is a remarkably effective tool for capturing floating trash without impacting fish or wildlife health. But equal to their value as litter capturing devices, the Anacostia Watershed’s (8) Bandalong traps serve as remarkable teaching opportunities to educate the public about marine debris and river ecology and generating litter characterization data that informs public policy.
